Shingles treatment symptomsAfter having contracted varicella, usually begins in childhood, the virus responsible for this disease (herpes zoster virus) are destroyed, except some who still lives, and that will be located in the ganglia of certain nerves. The causes of this reactivation are still unknown. Shingles can occur in anyone who has had chickenpox. However, elderly or have weakened immune systems (AIDS, leukemia, transplant, cancer of the lymphatic system, etc..) pose a higher risk of developing this disease. Unlike chickenpox, shingles is not contagious. However, if contact with skin lesions, it can cause chickenpox in people who have never had this disease. |
